Biografie
Michelle Mallinger, sopraan, behaalde haar Bachelor of Arts diploma in Vocal Performance van de San José State University (VS). Daarna studeerde zij aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium (Den Haag), waar ze haar Bachelor of Music graden in koordirectie en solozang haalde. Ze heeft in 2023 haar Master of Science diploma gehaald voor klinische epidemiologie van de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Michelle's operarollen omvatten Dido uit Purcells Dido and Aeneas, La Messagera uit Monteverdi's Orfeo, Venus in John Blow's Venus and Adonis (compleet met barok dans en gestiek) en Beatrice van Berlioz's Beatrice et Benedict. Ze was finalist in het Concours International de Chant Baroque de Chimay 2004 en semi-finalist in de Brunnenthaler Concours voor Oude Muziek 2007 in Oostenrijk en in 2008 Spazio Musica concours in Orvieto. Michelle ontving in 2006 haar post-graduate diploma van de Operastudio Vlaanderen in Gent, België. In 2007 zong zij bij de Hamburger Kammeroper in hun productie van La Cenerentola de titelrol (52 uitvoeringen). Michelle maakt haar eerste commerciële opname met Dirk Vermeulen en het Vlaamse orkest Prima La Musica in 2008 met "Four Native American Songs" van de Nederlandse componist Erik Lotichius. Verder heeft ze in 2009 de als soliste in J.S. Bachs Matthäus Passion olv Erik Van Nevel en in 2011 met Gijs Leenaars gezongen. In 2010 maakt Michelle haar solo debuut in het Concertgebouw met de muziek van Lotichius en haar ensemble debuut bij De Nederlandse Opera in de productie A Dog’s Heart. Samen met regisseur Hans Nieuwenhuis heeft ze in 2016 Poulenc’s ‘La Voix Humaine’ uitgevoerd in Nederland en Muscat, Oman. Ze was 12,5 jaar zangdocent aan de Muziekinstituut van de St. Bavo Koorschool in Haarlem. Haar huidige werk zijn: docent Amerikaans-Engels op het Conservatorium van Amsterdam, dirigent van het vrouwenkoor Baba Jaga, zangpedagoge en logopedist gespecialiseerd in stem- en keelklachten bij de poli-KNO van het OLVG-West. Michelle is medeoprichter van de Stichting La Voix in Haarlem.
Michelle Mallinger received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance from San José State University (CA). She enrolled at the Koninklijk Conservatorium (The Hague) where she received her Bachelor of Music degrees in Choral Conducting and Voice. In 2023, she received her Master of Science degree in clinical epidemiology from the University of Amsterdam. Michelle’s operatic roles include Dido from Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, La Messagera from Monteverdi’s Orfeo, Venus in John Blow’s Venus and Adonis and Béatrice from Berlioz’s Béatrice et Bénédict. She was a finalist in the Concours International de Chant Baroque de Chimay 2004 and a semi-finalist in both the 2007 Brunnenthaler Competition for Early Music in Austria and the 2008 Spazio Musica competition in Orvieto. Michelle received in 2006 her post-graduate diploma in opera from the Flanders Operastudio in Ghent, Belgium. In 2007 she was a member of the Hamburger Kammeroper’s production of La Cenerentola where she sang the title role 52 times. Michelle made her first commercial recording with Dirk Vermeulen and the Flemish orchestra Prima La Musica in 2008 with “Four Native American Songs” by Erik Lotichius. Michelle has sung solos with such conductors as Reinbert de Leeuw, Jos Vermunt, Arie van Beek and Erik van Nevel. Other highlights include the solos in J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, an English lute song recital and Haydn programme in the Utrecht Early Music Festival Fringe concert series. She was a voice teacher at the Choir School of Haarlem for 12,5 years, focusing on the mutation of the young voice. She teaches American English diction at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and conducts the female chamber choir Baba Jaga. Michelle was a founding board member of the Society for Vocal Music in The Hague and is currently the activities coordinator for the Stichting La Voix in Haarlem. She also works as a voice therapist at the OLVG-West hospital's ENT department. Michelle’s most recent production was ‘La Voix Humaine’ by Francis Poulenc. These performances were with Hans Schellevis, piano and stage director Hans Nieuwenhuis.
